Zurich-based start-up LEDCity is developing the lighting of the future: its intelligent lighting system for commercial buildings is easy to install and uses hundreds of sensors to regulate lighting intensity precisely and according to need. Without sacrificing comfort, it saves 90% of energy. The data collected by the sensors is also used to optimise the operation of the building. In short, it’s an intelligent system: the most efficient, intelligent and user-friendly lighting system on the market. LEDCity was founded in 2017 by Patrik Deuss and Florian Gärtner- Wyniger. They now employ more than 30 staff. As a team, they are pursuing ambitious goals: by 2027, their products should make the electricity production of an entire nuclear power station redundant. In addition, through their business, they aim to reduce global electricity consumption for lighting by 80 per cent by 2037. These are two important steps towards achieving LEDCity’s vision: enabling efficient use of electrical energy worldwide and accelerating independence from fossil fuels.
